Venue and Hotel
The 2024 conference will be held at the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa, a historic hotel in downtown Riverside, California.
"Framed by its breathtaking Spanish Mission-style architecture, The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa welcomes you to a destination where rich history and classic elegance exist in perfect balance with contemporary luxury and comfort. Occupying an entire city block in downtown Riverside, California, this iconic, AAA Four-Diamond hotel has remained faithful to the grand style and ambiance enjoyed by its very first guests in 1876. It is a place where magnificent vistas harbor countless intimate hidden treasures. And it’s an oasis where the outside world is left behind to set a vivid stage for memories that will last a lifetime."
UPDATE: It looks like the Mission Inn is running low on rooms. You should call the hotel to see if you can still get in. Alternatively, if you cannot book a room at the Mission Inn, the next closest hotels are the Marriott Convention Center and the Hyatt Place downtown. Both of those hotels are adjacent to the Mission Inn and very easy to walk to. Also, as I mention below, the Raincross Hotel is a low-budget option (like $120/night) and perfectly sufficient and only about a four block walk to the Mission Inn -- you can cut through the Tio's Tacos garden on your way to the meeting!
Hotel rooms are $199/night at the conference rate for a Deluxe room, and $229/night for a (nicer) Raincross room. Please use this link to book your room online (note, they list the room block as "Society for Political Mythology" -- I have tried to correct that a dozen times and I am giving up.). Or if you prefer, you can contact the Hotel’s Room Reservations Department at 800-843-7755 or 951-784-0300, extension 850 and reference Society for Political Methodology when making reservation(s). To attend Polmeth you will want to check in on Wednesday, July 17 and check out on Saturday, July 20. If you choose, you can also stay the night on Saturday at the conference rate.
PLEASE NOTE: Booking your room at the Mission Inn through Travelocity is more expensive than the conference rate because Travelocity doesn't include the "resort fee" in its room rate -- they add it once you go to pay. Also, if you book through Travelocity your room doesn't count toward the conference room block in our contract. Please call the hotel instead. Thank you.
Lower cost option: The rates for other downtown Riverside hotels such as the Marriott, Hyatt Place, and Hampton Inn are a bit lower than the conference rate at the Mission Inn, but not by much and your conference experience will be better if you stay at the Mission Inn. However, if you are looking for a low-cost option, you should look at the Raincross Hotel Riverside, which is currently listing rooms at about $120/night. We do not have a block of rooms there, and as of May 1 their website says they have about 35 rooms remaining. The Raincross Hotel is about a four block walk from the Mission Inn but it is manageable.
